Job Description:

Students assist in the organization and maintenance of library collections and OhioLink materials.  Working directly with the Student Assistant Supervisor and the Collection Maintenance Supervisor, tasks are primarily focused on the libraries out going Ohiolink requests and managing the book collections.

Students are responsible for:

  • Retrieving and processing OhioLink items.
  • Gathering, organizing, cleaning and shelving books, and periodicals.
  • Investigating and scouting missing book traces, resolving missing book lists.
  • Miscellaneous tasks as assigned


  • Working knowledge of library classification systems; KSL specific training provided.
  • Accurate, basic filing skills; KSL specific training provided.
  • Good interpersonal skills for interaction with public on library services and policies.
  • Ability to work independently with some direction and prioritize tasks.
  • Attention to detail and dependability
  • Able to lift 20 lbs

Hours needed:

Students interested in this position need to be available to work 3-5 days a week in the afternoons and able to work shifts no shorter than 3 hours.

What and Where is Siegal?

The notation "Siegal" in the online catalog refers to the Aaron Garber Library of the Siegal College of Judaic Studies at 26500 Shaker Blvd. Cleveland OH 44122. The Aaron Garber Library is the academic library of the College and the central library of the Cleveland Jewish community. It includes 30,000 volumes, plus periodicals, language tapes, music and text CDs in English, Hebrew and Yiddish. The Library's electronic catalog is part of the online library system managed by Case Western Reserve University, and is included in OhioLINK, the statewide electronic academic catalog system. Online borrowing privileges are reserved for students registered at Siegal College. Community members are welcome to browse the catalog, visit the Garber Library and borrow materials.
