Disaster Recovery Job Assignments

  • Recovery Director -S. Gubkin
  • Assistant Recovery Director - E. Strong
  • Individual to contact pre-arranged off-site facilities and sources of salvage materials and supplies - S. Hanson
  • Individuals with cars or vans to pick up salvage materials and supplies, both on campus and off-site- P. Butts, R. Chambers, B. Claspy
  • Individual to telephone pre-determined on-campus resource people -E. Blackman, H. Conger, A. Vander Schrier
  • Cataloger/Registrar in charge of bibliographic control-M.Burns
  • Photographic Documentation - T. Robson, K. Oye
  • Individual to arrange needed comforts for staff, i.e., coffee, food, etc.-C. Wells
  • Person to co-ordinate non-staff volunteers-R.Chambers, S.Gravious
  • Public relations individual to coordinate contact with news media and update staff and university community on situation -T. Robson

OTHER POSSIBLE JOBS TO BE ASSIGNED TO KSL STAFF: If and when needed, the following jobs could be assigned according to the requirements of the disaster situation. You would be trained on-site. You would not be required to perform any activity in excess of your personal physical comfort or limitations. Jobs would all be on a volunteer basis.

  • Individuals to lift wet books off shelves
  • Individuals to carry wet books to cleaning/packing areas
  • Individuals to rinse "muddied" volumes (books that have been soiled by dirty flood water and must be dipped in tubs of clean water)
  • Individuals to deal with minimally damaged/wet materials (tasks would include placing dry sheets between wet pages and spreading volumes in front of fans)
  • Individuals to pack volumes in crates
  • Individuals to keep records of materials packed at cleaning/packing areas

What and Where is Siegal?

The notation "Siegal" in the online catalog refers to the Aaron Garber Library of the Siegal College of Judaic Studies at 26500 Shaker Blvd. Cleveland OH 44122. The Aaron Garber Library is the academic library of the College and the central library of the Cleveland Jewish community. It includes 30,000 volumes, plus periodicals, language tapes, music and text CDs in English, Hebrew and Yiddish. The Library's electronic catalog is part of the online library system managed by Case Western Reserve University, and is included in OhioLINK, the statewide electronic academic catalog system. Online borrowing privileges are reserved for students registered at Siegal College. Community members are welcome to browse the catalog, visit the Garber Library and borrow materials.
