Kelvin Smith Library Locker Policy

Forty lockers are available on the Lower Level of the Kelvin Smith Library for Short Term use with a valid library card.

Twenty lockers are available on the Lower Level of the Kelvin Smith Library for Semester loan with a valid library card.

Ten lockers for graduate students & faculty are available nearr the 2nd floor Faculty and Graduate Reading Commons.

All individuals who borrow lockers are responsible for the following general policies, in addition to the specific details of  the locker that is borrowed:

  • Materials kept in the lockers are the responsibility of the user. The Library is not responsible for the contents of the locker.
  • No hazardous or illegal objects may be stored in lockers.
  • No perishable food may be left overnight in lockers.
  • No personal locks of any type are permitted on lockers. Staff will remove any personal locks.
  • The Library reserves the right to open lockers and inspect the contents for library material that has not been checked out. Any such materials that are found will be returned to the collection.
  • Violation of this policy may result in loss of locker and library privileges.

Short Term Loans (40 lockers)

  • Available to students at Case, CIM, and CIA with current library cards.
  • Short term loan available daily:
    • Sunday through Thursday, all keys are due back by 11:30 pm.
    • Friday and Saturday, all keys are due back  by 5:00 pm.
  • Late fee for key return is $5.
  • Any short term lockers for which the key is not returned to the KSL Main Service Desk will be emptied when the library opens the next day.
  • Locker contents that are removed will be held for a minimum of 24 hours, with the exception of library materials that will be returned to the collection.
  • Lost keys will incur a $35 replacement fee.

Semester Loans (20 lockers)

  • Available to current Case students only, with current library cards.
  • Locker assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Semester loan requests & locker distribution begin the second week of classes.
  • All semester loan locks and keys must be returned by the last day of undergraduate finals.
  • No automatic renewals—lockers must be emptied & keys returned at the end of each semester.
  • Keys not returned by the due date will have contents removed after 48 hours.
  • Locker contents that are removed will be held for a minimum of 24 hours, with the exception of library materials that will be returned to the collection.

What and Where is Siegal?

The notation "Siegal" in the online catalog refers to the Aaron Garber Library of the Siegal College of Judaic Studies at 26500 Shaker Blvd. Cleveland OH 44122. The Aaron Garber Library is the academic library of the College and the central library of the Cleveland Jewish community. It includes 30,000 volumes, plus periodicals, language tapes, music and text CDs in English, Hebrew and Yiddish. The Library's electronic catalog is part of the online library system managed by Case Western Reserve University, and is included in OhioLINK, the statewide electronic academic catalog system. Online borrowing privileges are reserved for students registered at Siegal College. Community members are welcome to browse the catalog, visit the Garber Library and borrow materials.
