Annual Report
Case Western Reserve University’s Kelvin Smith Library (KSL) has entered a new era. From shifts in physical space to a rethinking of where and how knowledge is produced and shared, the accomplishments of the past year reflect a sustained effort to restore the library to a place of centrality within CWRU. Fundamental to achieving this outcome was the implementation of our strategic plan, which was approved in April 2011.

Success Metrics: Identification & Assessment

To ensure our strategic plan accomplishes its intended outcomes, we began a process to articulate success metrics using the Balanced Scorecard method. Following a strategy map driven by our mission and vision, we identified specific qualitative and quantitative success metrics for each objective. After review and comment by the Faculty Senate Committee on University Libraries, we moved forward to create and adopt outcome assessment tools so we can communicate progress through public dashboards that will be available to the entire campus.
