Ellesmere Chaucer Facsimile of The Canterbury Tales
Kelvin Smith Library has acquired a 464-page reproduction of Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. This facsimile is one of only 250 in the world and offers an extraordinary opportunity for study and research. The original parchment manuscript of the Ellesmere Chaucer, believed to have been made in London in 1400, is now in the Huntington Library in San Marino, California. The Huntington Library joined with the Yushodo Co., in Japan in 1995 to produce the facsimile.

1751, by Eliza Haywood. 4 vols. The author addresses the social concerns of women in the 18th century. Her book may be considered the first domestic novel in English.

1624, by Thomas Heywood. A survey of women recognized as being influential throughout history.
The Female Quixote: or, the Adventures of Arabella
1752, by Charlotte Lennox. 2 vols. Lennox portrays a heroine who foolishly relies on French romantic novels for her knowledge of life.
Ovid's Epistles
1680. Translations by major English authors and essayists from John Dryden to Aphra Behn.
Poems of Affairs of State
1703. Poems by various authors on political matters from the time of Cromwell to James II. During Restoration, many writers were reluctant to attach their names to political pamphlets.
The Dunciad
1729, by Alexander Pope. A mock-heroic satire exposing "Dulness."
A Tale of a Tub...to which is added Account of a Battel between Books
1724, by Jonathan Swift. Swift's satire on religious dissension is bound with his mock-epic supporting the "Ancients" in the Querelle des Anciens et des Modernes.
