The Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship

‌GPS Equipment

Did you know that the Kelvin Smith Library loans GPS devices to CWRU students, staff, and faculty?

We currently have 3 recreational GPS devices available and 1 survey grade GPS device available for no-cost loan.

Three Garmin Oregon 550t GPS (with camera) are available for a 3-night loan from the KSL Service Desk. Simply stop by with your Case ID to check one out!  If you would like to extend the loan period to be able to use this device for a field work assignment, please contact Ann at ann.holstein@case.edu or 216-368-8689.

‌One Trimble Geo 5T Handheld GPS is available for special loan through the Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship.   This device can be used for research projects, field work and special class projects through consultation with Ann Holstein, GIS Specialist/Librarian at the Kelvin Smith Library.  Please contact Ann directly to arrange to borrow this device at ‌ann.holstein@case.edu or 216-368-8689.  ArcPad 10.2 is installed on this device, so you should become familiar with it before borrowing the GPS.  A free, online, 3-hour training course "Field GIS: Collecting and Editing Data Using ArcPad 10" is available through ESRI which is a pre-requisite prior to equipment checkout.  Please print out or email Ann a copy of your training certificate.
