Audio and Video Conferencing

Teleconferencing services at the Freedman Center help learners improve their language skills and fluent speakers stay in touch with friends and family.

Sixteen of the computers in the Freedman Center feature webcams and teleconferencing software such as Skype.

To do an audio or video conference at the Freedman Center, you will need to:

• Bring your valid student, staff, or faculty ID with you to the Freedman Center.
• Present your ID to the staff at the front desk and tell them that you would like to do an audio or video conference. They will provide you with the headphones needed.
• Once at a computer, open your program of choice from the folder "Instant Messaging." (Skype is currently a very popular program used by many people, but you are free to use any program you wish. The person you will be communicating with will need to use the same program.)
• Log yourself into the program and plug in the headphones.
• You will need to activate the video in the program if you wish to do a video conference. Your speaking partner will need to activate a webcam on her/his computer in order for you to see her or him.
