Alumni Membership Program
Kelvin Smith Library is committed to advancing lifelong learning opportunities for our alumni. We know that many of our graduates want to stay connected to the outstanding resources and services that are available through Kelvin Smith Library, whether it is to improve research skills, pursue current interests, or develop new ones. Libraries, more than ever, have become the gateways to the digital world of information by selecting and making available the most trusted sources of news, data, and research.
We offer two levels of membership to satisfy your interests and activities. Depending on your current reading & research needs and your location, we're confident that one of these plans will support your ongoing information needs!
Alumni Standard Membership Service
A $25 annual fee for Alumni Standard Level provides borrowing privileges from the general circulating on-shelf collections of books and videos at KSL & the MSASS Harris Library, plus limited courtesy borrowing through the OhioLINK consortia institutions.

Alumni Choice Membership Service
A $95 annual fee for the Alumni Choice membership level includes the Standard Service level benefits mentioned above, plus online access to a 'selected' group of databases as listed below.
Databases on campus for faculty, students, and staff are not included due to the academic licensing—however, the databases listed below now have addendum licenses specifically for CWRU alumni, and are not freely available on the internet:
- Academic Search Alumni Edition — Full-text of articles from 3000+ journals, 5000+ article abstracts, broad interdisciplinary coverage.
- Business Source Alumni Edition — Full-text of articles from 1500+ journals in management, economics, marketing, etc.
- CINAHL — The authoritative resource for nursing &allied health. Abstracts of articles from 3000+ journals.
- Environment Index — Nearly 2 million records from over 1,700 domestic & international titles dating back to the 1940s. Uses in-depth thesaurus, features 6,500 author profiles.
- Humanities International — Abstracts of articles from 2,000+ journals.
- SocIndex — Abstracts of articles from 1700+ journals. Covers environmental issues in all disciplines.
- Times (London) Digital Archive 1785-1985 — Full-text &images from the Times London for 200 years.
- JSTOR — Full-text of 1300+ scholarly journals across all disciplines. Coverage begins with Vol. 1 of a journal title & extends to within 3-5 years of the present, in a rolling wall of digitization. New, June 2009
- MIT CogNet — Full-text of books &journals related to the brain & cognitive science, from MIT Press. New, June 2009
