Main Service Desk

Who We Are

The Main Service Desk is often the first point of library interaction for Kelvin Smith Library customers. Staff working at this service point manage all functions related to borrowing privileges from local, consortium, and other resource-sharing partners and maintain the readiness and accuracy of the physical collections for optimum access and use.

The staff explains, interprets, and answers questions about policies, services, and the facility so that library customers can locate collections, equipment, and spaces that support their educational needs. Staff members and highly trained student assistants partner with faculty to organize, manage, and present materials for Course Reserves, implementing electronic reserve access through innovative technologies.

The Main Service Desk is a primary line of communication with other campus libraries, university affiliated libraries, and OhioLINK libraries. Staff responds to general inquiries about the university and as appropriate refer library customers to other areas, services, and personnel of the library, ensuring that library customers get expert assistance for whatever they need, whenever they need it.
