Job Details
Job Title: STUDENT ASSISTANT - Main Service Desk
Job Description:In combination with some collection duties, students will provide general assistance at public service points. There will be significant patron interaction.
Students Will:
- Receive training for the circulation and on-line systems, Reserves, and OhioLink.
- Respond to patron queries about library accounts, materials, fines, policies, & facility.
- Monitor operation of photocopiers & printers by maintaining paper and toner.
- Provide general, initial assistance to patrons for OhioLink databases.
- Gathering, organizing, cleaning and shelving books, periodicals, and media materials.
- Investigating and scouting missing book traces, resolving missing book lists.
- Miscellaneous tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- Prior customer service or library experience preferred
- Working knowledge of library classification systems; KSL specific training provided.
- Accurate, basic filing skills; KSL specific training provided.
- Good interpersonal skills for interaction with public on library services and policies.
- Ability to work independently with some direction and prioritize tasks.
- Communicate well with others
- Must be dependable!
Hours needed:
Students interested in this position must be able to work a fixed schedule for the entire semester (holidays and breaks excluded); shifts are no shorter than 3 hours at a time and 3-6 days a week. Students are needed for all hours the Main Service Desk is open; mornings, nights and weekends.

- What and Where is Siegal?
The notation "Siegal" in the online catalog refers to the Aaron Garber Library of the Siegal College of Judaic Studies at 26500 Shaker Blvd. Cleveland OH 44122. The Aaron Garber Library is the academic library of the College and the central library of the Cleveland Jewish community. It includes 30,000 volumes, plus periodicals, language tapes, music and text CDs in English, Hebrew and Yiddish. The Library's electronic catalog is part of the online library system managed by Case Western Reserve University, and is included in OhioLINK, the statewide electronic academic catalog system. Online borrowing privileges are reserved for students registered at Siegal College. Community members are welcome to browse the catalog, visit the Garber Library and borrow materials.
