Monday, March 14th as the campus returned from Spring Break, KSL's newest space was revealed as Cramelot cafe, as Ryan Haskins, undergraduate Biology major, earned a gift certificate and prizes for winning the name-the-cafe contest. Campus dignitaries celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the crowds enjoyed free coffee and food samples amongst the other festivities of the morning.
Crowds enjoyed the casual seating, newspapers & leisure reading materials, nearby art gallery installation, and other things to expand your day's choices. Groups can hook up a computer to a monitor kiosk (complete with connectors if you don't have yours) to have a more comfortable viewing experience together. Art on the newly painted walls make it a great place to re-energize, and by the end of the inaugural week, Cramelot held its first performance event when Ars Poetica held a Poetry Slam on Thursday night. Make KSL's newest space one of yours, too.
After two months of the initial operations, staff at Bon Appetit evaluated the products offered at the café. Hours were extended for finals, and Cramelot stayed open until Midnight Sunday through Thursday, giving students late-night options for beverages and food as they completed the semester.
The new gathering place was planned to reflect a new vision for the Kelvin Smith Library as a place to learn in a social environment, and to do so in a place that is comfortable, relaxing, and convenient. Combining KSL collections with new collaborative spaces also offers new cultural and intellectual activities. Watch this page for news, and watch the new KSL café change and grow into a new space!
