The Astronomy Library is housed in the Astronomy Department, and occupies an area in the central portion of the fifth floor of the Sears Building on the Case Quad. The following Astronomy Library collections and records are listed in priority order--from top priority to lowest priority. Disaster salvage should proceed accordingly.
1. The Reference Collection:
A. Atlases and Star Charts
- Book atlases
Location:In and on metal cabinets along the north wall of the library.- ESO Atlas
Location: In flat file cabinets along the north wall of the library.- Palomar Atlas
Location: In file cabinets in the north east corner of the library.
B. Reference Works, reserve Books, and New Books
- Reference Works
Location:Reference works are along the east face of the easternmost range of shelves- Reserve Books and New Books
Location: Reserve Books and the New Book Shelf are located on shelves along the east wall of the library.
Location: Three ranges in the center west of the room.
Location: Two ranges in the center west of the room.
Location: On stand-alone black shelving units in the eastern portion of the library.
A. Computer
Location: One computer located along the west wall of teh library
B. Microfiche Reader
Location: On the counter along the north wall of the library
The notation "Siegal" in the online catalog refers to the Aaron Garber Library of the Siegal College of Judaic Studies at 26500 Shaker Blvd. Cleveland OH 44122. The Aaron Garber Library is the academic library of the College and the central library of the Cleveland Jewish community. It includes 30,000 volumes, plus periodicals, language tapes, music and text CDs in English, Hebrew and Yiddish. The Library's electronic catalog is part of the online library system managed by Case Western Reserve University, and is included in OhioLINK, the statewide electronic academic catalog system. Online borrowing privileges are reserved for students registered at Siegal College. Community members are welcome to browse the catalog, visit the Garber Library and borrow materials.
