Emerging digital environments bring a changed set of possibilities and challenges to scholarly research and publication. In the past, a scholar's intellectual property rights were signed over to publishers. Today, there are options that can benefit both scholar and publisher, with  new models of peer-reviewed electronic publishing, open access publishing, and various repositories.

The Kelvin Smith Library already engages in activities related to scholarly publication and communications. The resources here offer practical information and guidance to assist you with informed decisions about your author's rights.

Fall 2009 CaseLearns classes offer Copyright @ Case (exclusive rights & upholding federal law), or the new Authors' Rights (working with publishers), hands-on Text-Encoding markup for digital publishing, and more.
