Legislative news on publicly-funded research is always a hot topic on the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) page. Current spring 2013 focus is California legislation for Taxpayer Access to Publicly Funded Research Act AB609

• Digital Koans, an online publication site from Digital Scholarship, open access publishing sicnce 1989.  Weblog for news and commentary on digital copyright, curation, repositories, OA, scholarly communications; international news included.
• Open Acess Bibliography: Liberating Scholarly Literature with E-Prints and Open Access Journals, Charles W. Bailey, Jr. Overview of OA concept with selected books, reports, debates and many formats to present the movement towards increased access to scholarly literature. Author and title indexing, searchable, table of contents.
• OAD, the Open Access Directory. Simple lists by category, find what interests you in guides, FAQs, events for conferences & news, statistics, "periodicals that frequently publish articles about OA," and much more.
• Open Access News, Peter Suber, Earlham College.  More news than comment, the blog focuses on OA  journals, sites, publishers, research, royalties, and news (OA mandate-China, August 18, 2009).
• OASIS (Open Access Scholarly Information Sourcebook), a new portal  with topic areas for Researchers, Students, Publishers, Librarians, as well as news, initiatives, case studies, and helpful links.  Easy to read, brief pages display sidebars of related topics, e.g., Researchers section with benefits, concerns, citation impact.
