Hosted by the Kelvin Smith Library at Case Western Reserve University, Digital Case collections preserve and disseminate the intellectual property of the university. Collections also include historical library collections that have been digitized.

• arXiv, Cornell. Pre-pub repository of selected areas of physics, mathematics, non-linear science, computer science, quantitative biology, statistics. Partially funded by NSF, predicted to be 1 million articles by 2015.
• DeepBlue, University of Michigan Library. Scholarly work from academic departments and research units, over 50K authors and nearly 45K electronic objects. Searchable & browsable.
• DSpace at MIT. Digital research projects, includes department 'communities.' Content includes pre-prints, technical reports, working papers, conference papers, images, MIT Theses (previews), and more. 
• PubMedCentral, a subject or disciplinary IR at NIH for biomedical & life sciences journal articles.
• SSRN, Social Science Research Network, specialized research networks in social sciences.
• RePEc, Research Papers in Economics,  site covering content from 75 countries' working papers, books, chapters, articles, dozens of contributors & publishers like Elsevier, MIT Press, Oxford Publishing, U. Chicago Press, NBER, and more.
