LibQUAL+ 2008 Survey Results

In the fall of 2008, the Case Western Reserve University libraries invited the university community to participate in LibQUAL+, a library service quality survey.

We appreciate the time and thoughtfulness that you invested in responding to the LibQUAL+ survey. Here are some of the key points that you shared with us.

   What you like (overall scores)

  • You like 24/7 access to the Kelvin Smith Library building
  • You like the quality of service that you receive from library employees at all campus libraries
  • You like the convenience of online access to scholarly information
  • You like the quality and quantity of information that the libraries provide
  • Many of you have found library study and learning spaces to be adequate and in some cases exceptional
  • You like OhioLINK
  • You like having online research tools that make it easy for you to discover information

   What you desire (overall scores)

  • You'd like comprehensive access to all the print and electronic collections that you might require at the point of need
  • You'd like immediate access to individual and group study spaces whenever you need them
  • You'd like all designated study spaces to be quiet and inviting
  • You'd like library websites that enable you to locate information on your own
  • You'd like modern equipment that allows you to access needed information

What we are working on

In addition to rating services, many survey participants submitted comments. The Case libraries will attempt to address the major themes in comments. We will also carefully assess service gap scores. We have already begun this process and will complete it over the next few months. Responses are being posted here and on the individual web pages of the Case libraries.

What and Where is Siegal?

The notation "Siegal" in the online catalog refers to the Aaron Garber Library of the Siegal College of Judaic Studies at 26500 Shaker Blvd. Cleveland OH 44122. The Aaron Garber Library is the academic library of the College and the central library of the Cleveland Jewish community. It includes 30,000 volumes, plus periodicals, language tapes, music and text CDs in English, Hebrew and Yiddish. The Library's electronic catalog is part of the online library system managed by Case Western Reserve University, and is included in OhioLINK, the statewide electronic academic catalog system. Online borrowing privileges are reserved for students registered at Siegal College. Community members are welcome to browse the catalog, visit the Garber Library and borrow materials.
